Builds on Morocco UNS Standard v0.1 and Annex A — Phosphate & Mining. This is not a greenfield deployment. Per the Moroccan Industrial Digital Maturity Dossier 2026, Managem Tizert is the first Moroccan industrial site to run Sparkplug B in production. The opportunity is to bring their existing deployment into conformance with the published Moroccan standard — and to use Tizert as the lighthouse reference for every subsequent Moroccan client.


1. Strategic positioning

Tizert is unique: the dossier identifies it as the first Sparkplug B production deployment in Morocco. That gives Managem a 12–18 month technical lead over peer mining operators in Morocco (Reminex, Imerys, smaller players). Three implications for IEIA:

  1. Don’t pitch them on UNS adoption — they already adopted. Pitch them on standardization (“you’re already doing this; let’s make sure the rest of the country builds it the same way”).
  2. They are the reference customer, not the test customer. The relationship value to IEIA is asymmetric in their favor — price accordingly.
  3. The Tizert deployment likely deviates from the standard in places. A conformance audit is the natural first engagement, not a build.

3. Technical scope — conformance audit, not build

3.1 Phase 0 (2 weeks): Conformance audit

The audit measures the existing Tizert deployment against Morocco UNS Standard v0.1 and produces a delta report:

The audit ships a gap list with severity, plus a fix plan for any gap blocking standard conformance.

3.2 Phase 1 (4–6 weeks): Conformance fixes

Implement fixes in priority order:

  1. Mandatory metadata envelope additions (§7) — if missing
  2. Topic-prefix migration to the ma/... root — if needed
  3. Signature plumbing for CBAM-relevant signals (precautionary — copper is not in CBAM today but the EU has flagged it for future inclusion)
  4. Sector-vocabulary alignment with Annex A — Phosphate & Mining

3.3 Phase 2 (optional): Sector-vocabulary contribution

Tizert is a copper mine. Annex A v0.1 names “phosphate-and-mining” but its vocabulary is phosphate-leaning. A genuine Tizert engagement should produce an Annex A.1 — Base Metals appendix contributed back to the standard, signed by Managem as the originating partner. This is editorial value to Managem (“we wrote the Moroccan standard for base-metals mining”) that no fixed fee captures.

4. Entry route

4.1 Primary: peer-to-peer technical conversation

Lead with the published standard, not a sales pitch. “You shipped Sparkplug B in production before anyone else in the country. We published the Moroccan standard for naming on top of it. Want to compare notes?”

This is collegial, low-pressure, and converts to an audit engagement naturally because the technical team will want to know how they compare.

4.2 Secondary: CGEM / Cluster Maintenance 4.0 panel

Co-present with Managem at a Cluster Maintenance 4.0 session. Tizert is the technical exhibit; the standard is the framework.

4.3 Never lead with

  • “We can build you a UNS.” They built one.
  • “We can sell you a license.” This is open-source by design; license claims will close the door.

5.4 Phase 3 — Group rollout

Managem operates multiple sites (Bou Azzer cobalt, Imiter silver, Akka gold). A successful Tizert conformance pass is the template for each.

6. Why now

  • First-mover lock-in. The Tizert deployment is already in place; the only question is whether the rest of the country builds to its precedent or to a different one.
  • Editorial leverage. A Managem-co-authored Annex A.1 cements IEIA as the standard’s editor and Managem as the founding industrial sponsor.
  • Defense against future CBAM expansion. The EU has signaled non-ferrous metals as a future CBAM scope; doing the work now is far cheaper than retrofitting.
  • No competitor can claim this story. Even 4Sight Holdings — the dominant Sub-Saharan OT integrator — explicitly does not run UNS/Sparkplug B in their stack (4Sight Holdings — Competitive Intelligence 2026).
