Annex A — Phosphate & Mining

Sector annex to Morocco UNS Standard v0.1. Defines naming archetypes for phosphate extraction, beneficiation, transport, and downstream chemicals (phosphoric acid, fertilizers). Strategic anchor: OCP Group, the world’s largest phosphate exporter and the single most consequential CBAM-exposed industrial actor in Morocco.

A.1 Scope

Covers:

  • Open-pit phosphate extraction (Khouribga, Benguerir, Youssoufia, Boucraâ)
  • Beneficiation (washing, flotation, drying, calcination)
  • Slurry transport (the Khouribga–Jorf Lasfar pipeline, and equivalents)
  • Chemical conversion (Jorf Lasfar, Safi: phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid, fertilizers — DAP, MAP, NPK, TSP)
  • Port loading (Jorf Lasfar, Safi, Laâyoune)

Excludes downstream agronomic application and end-customer logistics.

A.2 Enterprise & Site archetypes

A.2.1 Enterprise segment

Use ocp for OCP Group mining and chemical operations. Use ocp-ms for OCP Maintenance Solutions when the publisher is the maintenance subsidiary, not the operator.

A.2.2 Sites

A.4 Equipment archetypes

Use a <type>-<tag> pattern where <tag> follows the site’s existing PI / SAP-PM tag where possible to preserve operator familiarity.

A.5 Mandatory signals

Every Equipment in this sector MUST publish at minimum:

  • state — CESMII ProductionState enum
  • energy-kwh — for any electrically driven equipment > 75 kW
  • One process-throughput signal: throughput-tph for solids handling, flow-rate-m3h for fluids

For cbam_relevant: true (see §7 of the standard), the following are mandatory at the indicated areas:

AreaCBAM-relevant signals
drying, calcinationfuel-flow-m3h, energy-kwh, co2-flow-kgh (computed if not measured)
sulfuric-acidsulfur-feed-tph, steam-export-tph (credit), energy-kwh
phosphoric-acidrock-feed-tph, acid-output-tph, energy-kwh, gypsum-output-tph
fertilizer-*feedstock-tph, product-tph, energy-kwh, fuel-flow-m3h
power-plantfuel-flow-m3h, electricity-export-kwh, co2-flow-kgh
port-loadingtotal-loaded-t, vessel-destination-iso2 (CBAM scoping requires destination)

A full embedded-emissions calculation for a phosphate fertilizer cargo bound for the EU can be reconstructed entirely from the above signals plus a static plant emissions factor.

A.8 Strategic notes

  • OCP’s stack (SAP S/4HANA, Azure, TEAL Technology Services integrator) treats SAP as the system of record. Per Walker Reynolds’s “ERP as a node” framing, the UNS sits between the OT layer and SAP. Conformant signals can land in SAP via a single bridge, replacing dozens of point-to-point integrations.
  • The CBAM May 2027 declaration is the single best forcing function for adoption. Annex A explicitly enables it.
  • OCP-MS I-SENSE currently delivers predictive maintenance via a closed stack; signals defined here are a superset and would let third-party analytics co-exist on the same broker.
  • ManufacturiX / InnovateX Day are the canonical entry points for proposing UNS pilots inside OCP Group.
